The Magical Employees in your Projects

How and why must we build magical employees in our projects

Today, I am writing another sensitive topic about people "Magical Employee(s)"

Well, everyone feels they work very hard and they are very special, isnt it?

There is no doubt. Ofcourse, I work very hard too, we all put in enormous efforts and extra hours at times to ensure our work is successful and in turn we are respected and gain the attention we deserve

But, by achieving the set targets and holding amazing performance will we win the hearts of people around us?

Like it or not, Leading teams is the best way to understand yourself better, because you are always around or surrounded by people

While leading teams, I have come across people Who are like "Magic"

I am not trying to superiorize anyone, as a leader we must be ethical and provide equal opportunities to everyone and appreciate people equally based on their achievements

Being a Project Manager, Ethics is all about making the best possible decisions concerning people, resources and the environment. Honesty, responsibility, respect and fairness are the values that drive ethical conduct for the project management profession. Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct

So all I am talking about here some of the basics you might notice in people like who are honest, polite, kind to everyone, friendly and respected by everyone

I am sure there are many people like this but there will be very few who shall come to your mind as an "Magical employee"

"Once I walked into my project floor, I noticed several team members circling around an employee who was focused on work. When asked they all mentioned we love being around . This is not the response I expected but there were several instances you find these magical employees keeping your teams together"

There are similar employees just sitting around you and working quietly, without making any noise and not even knowing they are one…

"Who knows it could be you as their leader as well.."

Now the most important question is

Why should you recognize them?

  1. they help in build you a "Positive Environment" - this is what culture is all about and team building. One employee like this will build several others

  2. Attrition - these employees are like magnets as they can hold others just because of their positive vibe (ensure to monitor and follow the people management protocols)

  3. Customer Satisfaction: Positive customer experience is pretty common in this kind of environment, considering these resources takes ownership and pride in what they do, definitely people will follow them and continue the positivity around

  4. Consistent and Strong Performance: when there is a positive vibe and good culture, the team is on Auto Pilot and people will strive towards the operational targets with little supervision. During difficult times they will find ways to solve problems and excel...

How do we recognize them?

Have you ever noticed:

  1. Humble and understanding

  2. Good listener (that's why people surround them)

  3. Professional and proactively reports when something is not going right and seeks help

  4. Hard working - earns the respect of everyone with their hard work

  5. Never tries to puts down anyone or complain

These are some of my observations while leading teams, and how some employees turn around the entire team and build the positive culture

Conclusion:

All employees must be treated equally, with respect, appreciate and share feedback with proper assesment and understanding.

A Leader must be the bridge and build teams with passion providing the right advise when needed, identifying these key resources within your teams and motivating them will improve your business and teams morale.
